PFW Report

Paris Fashion Week has been a success as always, bringing us the parisian trend forecast for next Spring.

Balenciaga at PFW

Balenciaga showcased structured padded blazers, oversized bags, and high neckline silk blouses. The fashion house brought futuristic full skirts on to the catwalk, teamed with thick strapped heels and matching panelled shirts.

Tiny bustiers and sheer lace were all over the catwalk for Nina Ricci’s S/S 12′ Collection. Glamorous head gear such as bows and tiarras also made an apperance to compliment the neutral navy, creams, and black outfits at the start of the show. Ditsy prints and chunky jewellery brightened up the show, and it was clear to see that midi and maxi lengths will still be bang on trend next summer.

The Christian Dior show made leather cloche hats sexy, teamed with some of the most glamorous dresses that have been shown so far at PFW. Mosaic prints were an obvious inspiration to the collection, with tops, skirt hems and belts adorned with the metallic design. Grid patterns and monochrome rose prints looked stunning on the delicate sheer fabrics. Grown up gowns at maxi lengths, showing off the legs, looked gorgeous on the catwalk, and burnt orange garments brought the collection to life.

The Christian Dior show this afternoon was a collection to be seen, and I reckon mosaic print will be big next Spring after seeing the designers beautiful tile inspired garments. I can’t wait to see the other collections coming up, especially Lanvin and Vivienne Westwood this evening, along with Alexander McQueen, Valentino, Chloe and Miu Miu next week! Excitment!!!

Marni at Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion week has inspired all fashion followers into the new trends for Spring/Summer next year, with an abundance of bold colours and prints reeling us in.

Yet to fail us with their designs, D&G wowed in bold printed silks and draping fabrics; a perfect mix for warm weather travelling in style. 70’s accesories were brought from s/s 11′ into s/s 12′ again, but with a more glamorous, exotic feel.

Marni decorated the catwalk with ice cream pastel hues in lose fitting fabrics, with contrasting strong prints. Consuela Castigliani’s collection exposed a 60s feel with collars, ankle socks and florals.

Missoni brought the colours of the sea to their s/s collection, with textured fabrics on flamenco skirts and sheer tops.

Alberta Ferretti’s designs sashayed out in mismatched prints and clashing colours of purples and reds, but the designs really worked and gave a fun take on summer style.

The 1920’s was encapsulated in the Gucci range of designs, with shimmering flapper dresses in monochrome, and tassled box clutches to compliment the glamorous designs. The other half of the collection portrayed a smarter feel, with black and gold double ankle strap heels against sheer blouses and tux trousers.

There was a futuristic feel at Emporio Armani’s classy robotic collection, which included diagonal fabric cuts, plastic heels, and without a colour to be seen. Armani’s range gave a grown up, sophisticated goth vibe to the catwalk.

Prada showed beautiful vintage styles, with 60s wallpaper prints and burlesque style kitten heels and sheer, lightweight long coats. Crop tops and pencil skirts in satin and silk finishes outshone the collection, and pleated knee-length skirts oozed glamour sex appeal teamed with sheer 3/4 sleeve blouses.

Overall I LOVE the new S/S 12′ collectiona that were shown at MFW , especially from my favourites; Prada and D&G. I reckon vintage will be a main trend from the 20’s through to the 70’s (which I admitt im still excited about!) I also think it would be wise to keep an eye out for sheer, luxe blouses for Spring and skimpy bustiers for next Summer.
